Cinema/Fine Arts/Museums
Cinema City Marburg:
Nowhere in Germany do the residents visit the cinema more frequently than in Marburg. This is due to the multiple prize-winning cinema programme in the Kammer-Filmkunsttheater (Chamber Art Films Theatre) as well as Cineplex and Capitol cinema centres.
Additionally, in the summer great films are shown at the outdoor stage of the castle gardens. Open air is also the atmosphere of the short-film festival "Open Eyes” in Amöneburg, presented each summer in July by the cinema of Café Trauma and adding yet another small but attractive package to the movie buff.

Fine Arts and Museums In the Kunsthalle (Centre of Fine Arts) run by the Marburger Kunstverein (Arts Society), modern art has taken a central position in Marburg’s new city centre.
Between the patina of the past and the flair of originality, the city spreads its museums, galleries, archives and collections across a unique cultural palette to stimulate the visitor to delve into the captivating contents at each site:
in the Marburger Universitätsmuseum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte (the Marburg University Museum of Arts and Cultural History) at its two locations on Biegenstraße and in the Wilhelmsbau (the east wing) of the city castle;
the numerous cultural history and natural science collections of the Philipps University,
such as the collections in Anatomy, Ethnology, or Religions and Theology;
the many archives including the Deutsches Spielarchiv (German archive of games) or the Adelsarchiv (archive of the aristocracy);
the Kindheits- und Schulmuseum (museum of childhood and early schooling);
the KunstWerkStatt der Kindermalschule (art workshop of the Marburg art school);
galleries and the Marburg Arts Society.
Whoever would like to join in actively in fine arts should sign up for the Marburger Kunstwerkstatt (the art workshop) or for the annual Marburger Sommerakademie (the summer academy of fine arts) organised by the Office of Culture (see "Adressen Kultur in Marburg”).
