Leisure Activities

Study Marburg - the city with the Old Botanical Gardens, a peaceful green oasis in the midst of city bustle, invites you embark on a pleasant journey through yesterday and today. A leisurely trip on the river with a pedal boat is as much a part of it as the climb to the castle. This of course takes a bit of an effort with all the stairs and steps, but in the end you’ll be rewarded with a fantastic view over the red tiled roofs of the old town in the Lahn valley.
There are a number of delightful excursions into the area surrounding Marburg where village life still honours traditional costumes and customs. Sport-minded guests can find something to satisfy their interests as well. Offers range from swimming in the new leisure and activity pool Aquamar through cycling, canoeing, water skiing or wakeboarding to horseback riding and golf. ‘Round about Marburg are marked hiking trails and the splendid Burgwald trail offers more extensive excursions. Just as Jacob Grimm, one of the "fairy-tale brothers, once said: "Oh, a magnificent region! With each step more and more romantic and lovely. High mountains, not just bald hills, but jewelled with manifold shades of green.”
