First Semester Special

The first semester is always something special. Having your own place to live for the first time, finding your way in the university routine between seminars and dining hall food - that already calls for some energy and creativity.
The ZAS ("Zentrale Arbeitsstelle für Studienorientierung und Beratung”, or, Social Services - see the link on the right side) offers (during the last week of holiday) all sorts of information and orientation you might need to begin your studies.
Since the winter semester of 2002, the University, Student Union, and the City Office of Arts and Culture have invited the new students to a "Welcoming Dinner for the First Semester” held in the festively decorated dining hall (Mensa).

And, the Civic Office (Stadtbüro) makes a special appearance at the dinner to assist students across some of the bureaucratic hurdles.
In 2004, for the first time, the city offers a highly attractive newcomer’s package: When you register your primary address of residence in Marburg, "@home in Marburg” rewards you with 100 Euro, a gift certificate for the cinema, and one free admission to swimming - see also the link AquaMar...
