City Library Media Centre
Reading - Knowing - Doing
The city library is not a haven of silence but more a media market. And that describes how busily things happen here:
between 200 and 500 children, youth, students, adults and seniors meet here daily to talk, read, research and browse, and to enjoy the casual, cosy atmosphere of the place.
"Well, what are you doing here?” is the most common way our guests greet one another. Last year about 110.000 visitors took advantage of what the library has to offer and borrowed 425.000 media. The city library thus counts as one of the most frequented facilities within Marburg’s cultural landscape.
Among the media available are non-fictional works, novels and fiction, foreign language literature (that is, other than German), children’s and young adults’ literature, maps, language courses, audio books, CDs, CD-ROMs, DVDs, newspapers, magazines, periodicals, and much more.
In order to get acquainted with this broad selection, you can find information available on each floor by using our PCs with the online-catalogues and by asking our trained personnel at the information desks for assistance.
