Municipal Centre for Continuing Education and Adult Education

The Marburg Adult Education Centre (VHS) was founded in 1920 and since 1970 it has been a legally commissioned public facility for education.

Over 500 features are offered each semester: courses, discussion groups, lectures and podium discussions, informational trips and excursions, educational tours, workshops, concerts and exhibits.

Each and every person is welcome participate, and fees are kept reasonable for those with limited resources.

Last but not least, the Adult Education Centre (VHS) allows learning in a relaxed atmosphere - without the pressure of school or college - and besides:

With its broad choice of courses and events, it is the Marburg Adult Education Centre’s (VHS) objective to encourage participants

- to further their general education and their working skills,
- to develop ideas and motivation for meaningful leisure activities,
- to increase their political knowledge and social involvement,
- to improve their "key qualifications” (languages, communication and media competence, computer and data processing, creative and productive skills),
- to strengthen their sense of social and ecological responsibility,
- to improve their knowledge of health and personal health provision, and finally,
- to experience and improve the quality of life in their own city.

Individual and differentiated counselling in continuing education - beyond the VHS Marburg and its programme as well - is another service you can of course expect from Marburg’s Adult Education Centre!
