Marburg Literature Award

Since 1980 die University City of Marburg and the County of Marburg-Biedenkopf have presented the biennial "Literature Award of the University City of Marburg and of the County of Marburg-Biedenkopf”. The aim of this award is to support and foster new, not yet established authors in the German language.

Theatre Festival for Children and Youth

From March 14th to 20th, 2004, Marburg hosted the ninth Hessian Theatre Festival for children and teenagers.

For the first time the Hessisches Landestheater (Hessen State Theatre) won the Marburg Children and Youth’s Theatre Award of 1,500 Euro for the best production of the festival, donated by the "Freundeskreis Marburger Schauspiel e.V.” (a registered club of patrons of theatre in Marburg).

The jury’s conclusion: The production is an excellent composition of the most varied theatrical devices, it is entertaining, diversified, engages all senses, has an intelligent story and is appropriate for all ages.

Marburg Summer Academy

It would be hard to imagine the annual cultural calendar without this event of the past 27 years:

Marburg Camera Prize

Since 2001, the city of Marburg and the Philipps-University have awarded a camera prize of 5,000 Euro.

At the beginning of each March, the Mayor and Chairman of the Department for Cultural Affairs, Egon Vaupel, presents the Marburg Camera Prize to a cameraman whose outstanding achievements in the field of cinematography have earned merit.
